    Frank said “somethings gotta give”…

I think it’s been fairly well documented that I’m busy. It may also have come up that I can’t say “no” to things – I get overbooked. Part of the ‘year of Jen’ was to work on this problem, but I’m not doing very well. Work is – busy. People keep leaving and we can’t hire replacements fast enough (plus hiring takes time we don’t have, which is an irritating catch-22). It’s a busy time of year anyway and add to that a few poorly-timed projects (transition to PHP5 servers- still love ya, Jason) and I’m in the middle of a stress test. Of course what do I do? I…

Progress EnergyApparently I wasn’t the only one with power problems in my area. Progress Energy came out and tore up the cables for everyone in my row of townhouses and then kindly put down grass seed in the area where I’d just finished killing the grass. On the plus side, my power hasn’t flickered in the slightest since then so (knock on wood) I think things might be fixed! Bedroom SetIt’s GORGEOUS! The biggest problem now is that I don’t want to get up in the morning because it’s so pretty and comfy! Yeah! Valentine’s Day & Weight WatchersIt took me a couple days to get over it this year.…

    Canes WIN!!

If you look back to September 2005, I told you to support your local hockey team following the “new” NHL rules. Fast-paced, action-packed, high-scoring- and apparently the Canes are good at it! What a wonderful year. Cole, Staal, Brindy, Petie- I could list them all. They all worked so hard and it was, is and will continue to be through all the celebrations, one of the most fun and memorable events of my life. Still surreal- but fun! 🙂 I love my team. Thank you Canes!

    Makin’ do

I’ve been accepted to a graduate Masters program. I’m very excited about it and strangely can’t wait to get started though I must be nuts. I only finished my undergraduate degree a year ago and I do work full time… Thinking about this achievement I found myself pondering what things will be like when I’m done with the degree- you know- in 5 or 6 years. Will I have a boyfriend, or be married, or have kids? It’s impossible to say if I can achieve any of that, but I did find solace in the fact that I can control whether or not I finish my degree (at least to…

    Medicate America

I really hate to be on medication- any medication. I take birth control pills because I am a woman and that’s what women do, but I have worked very hard to get a low-estrogen dose pill. I don’t need to be any crazier than I already am.I’ll never understand why people are so keen to be on a pill. I’m not talking about cholesterol or heart pills, but the more optional ones: erection pills, sleep pills, indigestion pills, “twitchy legs syndrome” pills; look around sometime, there’s a pill for everything now and they are advertised everywhere too. Do we really feel so bad in the everyday world that we feel…

    Planning

It’s been awhile I know. I expect my excuse- a 2 week long vacation isn’t going to draw any sympathy, but I also suspect no one is reading this anyway! I have, since my last post, vacationed and then moved into my new apartment. I can’t boast much more, including unpacking since work and friends have side-tracked me. Apparently if there isn’t anyone there to nag you about unpacking, you won’t do it (which makes sense and reminds me how many people I know who live alone and have never really unpacked…). I’m such a slacker. Actually, I’m thinking about going back to school, which, with a full-time job would…

    Busy weekend

First off, continuing with my rash of car troubles, I got to my car after work last Thursday and found that it refused to start. Wouldn’t even think about trying to click, sputter etc. I gave up, got a resuce and went to dinner. Happily, unlike my last troubles, this one was simply solved with the discovery that the battery wasn’t properly connected following my brothers installation of a new stereo. Dude! Sweet! I’m a little paranoid about bad things happening in three’s though, so I’m concerned about the next car problem… This weekend I moved out of the apartment I have lived in for two and a half years.…
